Welcome to Utility Telecoms 2020
The 3rd edition of the Utility Telecoms conference drew together technical telecom professionals from across the European utility sector, for a review of recent migrations to MPLS networks. This was an opportunity for attendees to step back and assess how they could raise the profile of their telecoms department to attract more investment and headcount, to manage the migration to next generation MPLS networks, and to drive their public carrier partnerships to a higher level, ensuring grid security, reliability and visibility.
With 14+ utility telecom case-studies over three intensive days, this was an opportunity to drill deeper into the technical details of the migration process, to understand the implications of the full range of new telecom technologies including 5G, to establish the most effective traffic engineering approaches to ensure full network optimisation, to implement the best network management approaches to ensure full LV grid visibility, and to enforce effective public carrier SLAs to guarantee QoS.

Case-Study Programme
Attendees gained deep insights into the latest Utility Telecom projects and strategies from pioneering TSOs and DSOs and understood how new infrastructure is being developed to better support next generation utility telecom networks
Utility Heavy Speaker Line-Up
Speakers were selected on the strength of the projects they are involved in, their pivotal roles in implementation decision making, and their insights into lessons learnt and future roadmaps
Operating TP with MPLS Tutorial
The 90-minute tutorial provided deep insights into advanced testing for MPLS networks, with a specific focus on distributed critical fibre-based sensing
Roundtable Discussions
Attendees took part in a series of intimate roundtable discussions. Each addressed a key theme arising from the opening day’s discussions and allowed attendees to delve deeper into the most specific issues impacting their organisations
Solution Zone
Running alongside the main 3-day conference, the solution zone provided a focused display of the latest utility telecom products and services, with experts on hand to discuss attendees specific challenges, they provided tailored advice to help propel attendees implementation plans to the next level
Evening Networking Reception
Open to all participants, this is was attendees opportunity to reflect on a full day of presentations and panel discussions, meet with colleagues from across the European smart grid utility telecom community, and exchange transformational ideas and opportunities for collaboration
